Mission Teams

One of the ways First UMC is serving Brackettville and Kinney County, is in our new role as host for mission teams throughout the year.

Located along the Texas-Mexico boarder, Kinney County is among the poorest counties in the United States - an estimated 30% of the families in Kinney County bring in less than $10,000 annually. The needs are great.

When we made the decision to establish H.O.P.E. Outreach, we were not sure how we would manage the demands of the ministry. In the summer of 2014, the Round Rock Jr. High Youth group made Brackettville their destination for their summer mission trip. It turned out to be God's answer to our question, "How?" They were followed by Drops of Grace, an adult Christian mission Non-Profit organization, and the NOMADS continue to make us a destination during the winter months.

We are a congregation answering God's call to be a welcoming and teaching congregation. We would love to host your adult and/or youth mission teams. We believe that the spirituality of the region, the west Texas hospitalitiy, and H.O.P.E.'s year round connection within the community make Kinney County a great place for missionally minded people to answer God's call to serve our brothers and sisters in need.
